Energy Deregulation
Deregulation creates choice. Historically, natural gas and electricity have been distributed to consumers in the U.S. exclusively by utilities with monopoly franchises granted by state and local governments. Beginning in the mid-1990s, individual states began to deregulate and open their retail energy markets to competition, providing consumers with the ability to choose their energy supplier.
Deregulation fosters competition. Retail energy suppliers must offer competitive prices, better service and innovative solutions to retain and add customers. This gives both residential and business consumers the opportunity to pick the purchasing strategy that best suits their needs, whether it is a stable monthly bill for their home or a flexible pricing strategy for their business.
Gateway Energy Services is able to supply natural gas and electricity at competitive rates to our customers because we operate in a competitive retail market. We supply the products to our customers’ utility, which delivers the energy and provides all services, such as equipment maintenance and emergency response.
